Star Quality
|
·
They use a continuous house theme of
black, white and yellow in the magazine.
·
Good quality images throughout that fit
to what the magazine is about and easy to read, clear writing that draws the
reader in.
·
The masthead is original and uses shapes
rather than letters for their A’s.
|
·
They overuse the house theme on their
double spread on the band. Could have followed the bands house theme.
·
The font they have used is very childish,
but easy to read. Could be more professional.
·
The cover on two of the girl’s heads the
photo shop skills aren’t very good.
·
The contents page is over cluttered, and
looks too crowded.
|
Low B
|
|
Reckless
|
·
Has a house theme of
black red and white.
·
The title fits what the magazine is
guessed to be about.
|
·
Looks unfinished.
·
Pictures are very emotionless and badly
photo shopped.
·
Not easy to read the details on the
cover.
·
The double spread page’s background is plain
and boring. Does not follow any theme.
·
No page numbers.

What have I learned from looking at last
year’s student work?
|
I have learned that in
order to make a good music magazine is to keep it simple without cramming the
pages full of images. Also to use simple backgrounds so the text is more
clear and a continuous house theme is the way to go.
|
How will I apply this to my own work?
|
I will choose a simple
colour theme and have my images also match this colour theme in some way
whether it be the background or the colour choices. I will also allow my
contents pages to have only one image to allow the page to not be cramped up
with other images. The text will be easy to read and the double page spread
will follow the house theme also but with minor alterations to suit what the
article is about.
