New Double Page Spread

For the first half of my double page spread I focused solely on the artist. The white shirt against the background follow the house themes and a masthead was place in the corner to remind the reader what magazine they're reading and also so if anyone saw someone reading it they'd know which magazine it is in. It also follows the conventions of a music magazine sticking the masthead in the corner.

For the second half of the double page spread I chose to make it entirely text as the article is the main part of the magazine it's not all pictures. I created a small masthead in the bottom right corner that also has the page number and month and year of the article release. Across from that at the bottom left is a site for people to subscribe to to get the articles online. I used large initials of the band in the background of the text making it link back to the band member across the page. I also added a coverline to the tops of the bands name and borders to the bottom and top to give it a clean professional look.

New Contents Page

For my contents page I stuck with my flatplan and kept up my house theme of black, white and blue. My previous content page used a lot of dark colours but this one is lighter, easier to read and more pleasant on the eyes. I chose to make the background white as it is clean and more professional looking. I used blocks of blue behind white subheadings as it pulled the reader's attention towards what they could find in the magazine. Underneath I still gave very little information on what the articles are about because I want the reader to hunt out the articles to know more. I used black and white images to keep a clean organized look, I didn't want colours mixed in as it wouldn't follow a good theme and would look unprofessional. I added page numbers to the photographs provided so the reader would see the image and know who the article was about. I used a clean easy to read font so the reader wouldn't struggle to find out what was in my magazine.

New Front Cover

I had to differ slightly from my flatplans once I began actually putting my front cover together. I took out the skyline from my new flatplans, the image to the corner did not look professional either so I also removed that and put the additional information where the image was suppose to as to not leave unwanted space. I chose to go with a blue, white and black theme rather than red as I did before. This gives my magazine a more calming and professional look rather than a violent red. I did a coverline of the bands name and a pull quote to pull the reader in. The coverlines and subheadings follow my new colour scheme, the house theme for my magazine as I made the coverlines blue and the subheadings white. I did this so the reader could see who the story was about then their eyes would drift to the little bit of information given to them. I added a bubble just to the side of my magazine with an enticing trip to L.A, competitions pull readers in and there's many music studios and bands in L.A which makes the location a fit for a music magazine.

New Flat Plans

The changes I have made from my previous flat plans are that I have moved my coverlines and subheadings from the left side of my magazine to the top right corner as I want to put more attention towards the main article. The main image still holds the entire cover and I put an image in the corner to advertise another article. The skyline was moved from the top of the magazine to underneath the coverline, I did this as I wanted the skyline to also by more noticeable instead of hidden at the top. The additional information has also been moved from the bottom left corner to just underneath the coverlines, I did this as it was different, made my magazine more original and it was still to the side not disrupting any of the main magazine image.

What I have changed about my flatplans this time around is that I haven't done as many subheadings or images. I chose a main image for an article that would appear on the right and will be joined by another article image just beneath and also to the left of it. This gave the contents more structure and looks more professional. The subheadings are still to the left of the contents page.

From my magazine before I changed having the image covering the entire two pages and instead chose just one. This allows the reader to be able to read the article to the left without being distracted by the image. I also gave myself more room for my article so it could be longer and more informative.

Resubmission

I have chosen to resubmit for my magazine coursework. Here I will revisit my work with the feedback I have received from my tutor and my own self.
