Pull Quote: “I’m new to this top charts, world but I’m hoping, I’ll become a regular.”

After the charts have spewed out generic pop star after generic pop star they have finally given us a breath fo fresh air with our rising musician Courtney Head making her way up the charts.

Courtney has taken the charts by storm with her first ever album release. The promising musician agreed to sit down and tell us how she is coping with this new found fame.

So, Courtney. How’re you handling this new found fame?

I’m new to this top charts world but I’m hoping I’ll become a regular.  It’s been a rush and it’s a big change from how life use to be.

Do you think any of this will go to your head?

I may be up in the charts but my feet are still on the ground. So no I don’t think this will all go to my head.

Any plans as to what is next for you?

Just to keep writing and making music.

Media Studies – Foundation Portfolio

Photo shoot planning document

What emotional impact do you want your photography to have upon the reader and how will you achieve this?

  • I want the reader to see the image and be immediately intrigued by it and want to buy the magazine.

What personnel do you need? Who are you going to photograph?

  •  I only need my SD card and a camera along with some time in the studio. I will be photographing a model who will be my rising star in my magazine.

What props will you need?
  • I will ned no props.

How are you going to emphasise colour?
  • I am going to emphasise colour in photoshop as I want to turn the image to black and white then duplicate the image for a colour one and have only the hair as the colour coming through.

Have you briefed your personnel/models?
  • We talked a few days before the shoot and we discussed a simple shoot with just posing since the model would not be comfortable using props.

What lighting will you need? Any other equipment?
  • I will need one spotlight and a camera so I can take the photograph.

Where will you shoot? Will you need a backdrop?
  • I will shoot in the studio with a black backdrop some my model will pop.

Mise-en-scene - Make-up? Costumes? Props?
  • There will be clothes that she will come already wearing along with make-up.

Risk Assessment:

Below is the risk assessment I have filled out to do my photoshoot so I can have the photos for my magazine.

Photo Choices:

These are the photos I'm going to use:

These are the photos I'm not going to use:

Colour Palette:

On the first row I have chosen the colour red. The colour red is used commonly in magazines which attracts readers along with it being a vibrant colour. The colour red has been tested and does attract a lot more people than a duller colour. The magazine is to appeal to a large crowd of many ages and tastes. Red is a unisex colour and appeals to all. I will be using red in my logo and on my main pull quote on my cover to pull the readers. This will also be in my house theme and will continue throughout the magazine to hold the reader.

I have chosen black as my second colour and also have it trail into the dark greys also. The black colour will also be in my logo as the main font colour while the red before will glow from the logo. The some what light greys will be the background on my cover photo to make my model pop along with the contents on the page. This colour will also be used on the double page fonts as it is easy to read and will be avaliable for those with difficult eye sight.

I also use white in my house style on some of my fonts on the contents page and also on my double page spread as it makes the words pop and allows those who require glasses to read more easily.

The main colours out of the three I will use will be black and red as they are common colours and fit the music style as it is for all kinds of readers who enjoy a large range of music.

MAGAZINE UPATE:

FRONT COVER:

I changed a few things on my cover by removing the skyline and enlarging my logo. I then changed the colour for my subheadings to black.

CONTENTS PAGE:

I changed the font size of my subheadings/content and added more as it is a monthly magazine.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD:

On my double page spread I changed the picture so she is looking into the magazine instead of out. I enlarged my logo and put the interveiw text on the opposite side of the page. I then also changed the font of the questions and answers since I used the font on several of my other pages so I thought keeping it for the block quote so it still kept a house style.
