Evaluation Question 7

What do you feel you have learned in the progression from creating the school magazine (preliminary task), to creating your music magazine?

Preliminary Task:

In our preliminary task we were required to create a magazine in a short amount of time. This magazine cover had to relate to Gateshead College so we used images of the college and photographs of it.

The process in making this helped me learn a lot about what is needed to become to create a magazine. Especially when using photoshop which was difficult at first since it was new to me. But after several practices during this task I began to understand what was needed to be used and how photoshop worked.

I researched many different music magazines to understand the conventions of my genre of magazine. I specifically looked at front covers, contents pages and double page spreads. This allowed me to see what different features I could add to my own magazine such as mastheads, essential information, subheadings and text bubbles which prepared me to create my own.

My final product for my preliminary task was helped by me previous research. This allowed me to create a better standard of a music magazine and helped me understand what my magazine needed to fit into this media industry. With my stronger knowledge of software and technologies I was able to create a magazine of a high quality.
